Everybody loves playing with puppies and kittens, but what is often overlooked is that they are very susceptible to a variety of infectious diseases. As the immunity from the mother’s milk wears off, a series of vaccinations administered by our animal vet clinic will keep them protected as they grown and develop their own immunities. This vaccination schedule will have the vet at our animal vet clinic administer the pet vaccination every 3 to 4 weeks until the puppy or kitten is about 12 to 16 months of age. Avoid late night trips to the emergency pet hospital and vaccinate your baby animals as recommended by your vet and veterinary hospital.

It used to be that a veterinary hospital would recommend yearly immunizations for your pet, but with advances in the understanding of animal disease and vaccinations, there is evidence that suggests immunity from many vaccinations may last beyond one year. The vet at our animal vet clinic can discuss with you a vaccination schedule for your pet that will ensure they are protected. They may not need an annual trip to the animal hospital for immunizations.

Ensuring that your pet is properly vaccinated will reduce any need for a visit to our emergency pet hospital or animal vet clinic. Diseases such as bordatella, distemper, feline leukemia, Lyme disease, parvovirus, rabies and dental diseases can all be prevented with proper wellness care that includes regular vaccinations. When you vaccinate your pet, the pet’s immune system is stimulated with either a weakened or killed form of the very disease you want to protect against. This arrival of this antigen causes the animal’s body to immediately defend against it. This teaches the animal’s body how to defend and repel this foreign disease. Should it occur later while the pet is immunized, then the pet’s immune system should be able to repel or fight off the disease before it shows any symptoms.
